I was paging through a back issue of a bridal magazine and found these stunning Kahlo-esque images by Ruven Afanador for Reem Acra. I’m completely taken with these images; the approach is so artful and different for bridal, plus the color and styling are exquisite—right down to the wonderful, unexpected blue nail polish. I’ve never considered hanging fashion photography in my home, but now I’m seriously reconsidering...

I love these photos. What is interesting to me is that Frida Kahlo herself refused to wear a "boring white dress" for her own wedding, opting instead for the splashy, predominantly red, green and gold outfit which is now immortalized in her paintings. What I see in these photos, however, is that the spirit of design along with Kahlo's spirit have transcended the "boring white dress" and have made it new in an exciting, sensual, edgy and beautiful way...and definitely worthy of being hung on your dining room wall.
